How TCGplayer fees work
TCGplayer splits its fees into a commission on the subtotal and a transaction fee on the order total. The subtotal is items plus shipping; the order total adds tax. Commission is capped per product, so expensive singles pay less than the headline rate, while shipping is never capped. TCGplayer applies bankers rounding, so a figure may differ from this page by a cent on exact halves.
| Seller type | Commission | Other fees | Transaction fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| Marketplace seller (Level 1–4) | 10.75%, cap $75/product | — | 2.5% of order total + $0.30 |
| Pro seller, not Direct | 9.25%, cap $75/product | Pro fee 2.5%, cap $75/product | 2.5% + $0.30 |
| Direct seller | 8.95%, cap $75/item | Direct fee $1.12/item at $2.50+; 50% flat at $0.40–$2.49 | 2.5% of items, no $0.30 |
| Direct seller, Pro | 8.95%, cap $75/item | Pro fee 2.5% + Direct fee | 2.5% of items |
| International order | as above | — | 3.5% + $0.30 |
Worked example
Two $1,000 cards shipped free with $160 tax by a standard seller: commission would be 10.75% of $2,000 = $215, but the cap makes it $75 per card, $150; transaction fee 2.5% of $2,160 plus $0.30 = $54.30; total $204.30, and the $160 tax is remitted by TCGplayer. Enter 2000, quantity 2 and tax 160 to see it.
Assumptions
- Items in an order are treated as similar in price for the per-product cap; an order with one $1,500 card and one $5 card is best entered as two calculations.
- Seller levels 1–4 only change listing limits, not fees.
- Shipping credits, Pro website in-store pickup and kiosk sales are outside this calculator.
Questions sellers ask
- What are TCGplayer's seller fees?
- For a standard marketplace seller: a 10.75% commission on the order subtotal (items plus shipping), capped at $75 per product sold, and a transaction fee of 2.5% of the order total (items, shipping and tax) plus $0.30 per transaction. These are the rates on TCGplayer's fee page, with the current schedule dated 17 June 2026.
- What is the fee cap?
- The marketplace commission and the Pro fee are each capped at $75 per product, applied per item rather than per order, so an order with two $1,000 cards pays $150 in commission. The shipping portion of the commission is not capped.
- How much does TCGplayer take from a $100 card?
- With $4 shipping and $8 tax, a standard seller pays 10.75% of $104 ($11.18) plus 2.5% of $112 plus $0.30 ($3.10): $14.28 in fees.
- What do Pro sellers pay?
- 9.25% commission plus a 2.5% Pro fee, both capped at $75 per product, plus the 2.5% + $0.30 transaction fee. Pro has no contract, monthly payment or start-up cost. Pro website sales that ship pay no commission, only the Pro fee and transaction fee.
- What do Direct sellers pay?
- 8.95% commission (capped at $75 per item) plus a Direct fee of $1.12 per item priced $2.50 and up, plus a 2.5% transaction fee on items with no $0.30 fixed fee. Items priced $0.40 to $2.49 pay a flat 50% Direct fee and nothing else. Pro Direct sellers add the 2.5% Pro fee.
- What about international orders?
- The transaction fee becomes 3.5% plus $0.30. Non-US sellers paid through PayPal also pay a 2% payout processing fee capped at $20.
